By the time he realized that he failed he was already falling down the shaft. Even if he was to force jump back up, Vader would've been familar enough with the situation to dismember him while he was in mid jump comming up from the shaft. Even if he was to somehow get back up, he would have Luke and Vader to face, he'd be doomed either way. Darth Vader threw his lightsaber down the hallway of a ship. The weight of an object could affect the speed in which an object could be moved and it was normally less easy to control targets that were already moving or had stronger force already exerted on them, such as the debris and concussive force of an explosion.

While all of these teachings feel firmly rooted in all things Star Wars and the Force, they're also well-known and highly effective techniques for self-care.
Darth Vader, who would not hesitate to use Force Crush and similar techniques on Imperial personnel that he deemed incompetent, was capable of crushing small vehicles on the battlefield. The Force Choke was a technique primarily associated to Dark Side users to apply telekinetic pressure to an individual neck and throat to grab, choke or strangle them, which could result in death if applied long enough or with enough pressure to crush the neck of the vicim.
Although users of the dark side reveled in using the power, especially for humiliation, this power was used by the light side as well. Since it basically utilizes pure telekinesis, the only real counter is a ranged weapon or a another Force ability, such as Force Push. User can control the purest form of telekinesis, the generation and manipulation of telekinetic force itself.
Luke Skywalker could use this power, as he demonstrated on several occasions. Telekinesis was first identified by name in canon in the novel Heir to the Jedi by Kevin Hearne. If not resisted, it could crush the victim's heart or lungs.
Telekinesis involves more than simply moving an object. With it, they could lift and move objects to their will. Darth Maul looks at the knife stopped by his brother. The damage inflicted using projected fighting was often dependent upon the attacker's physical strength—the power effectively acting as an extension of their physical body in hand-to-hand combat. Such gestures were the most common way to use the power, especially when the user's mind or senses are strained or overwhelmed, as the user requires comparatively less concentration, focus, and effort to manifest their ability.
The technique became more corrupting to use depending both on how far away the target was, as well as how familiar the Force-user was. While brief, his skill with the Force allowed him to unclip his weapon from his belt and activate it, destroying a Super battle droid with one swift stroke.
Via starwars. The Force was strained and muted, and appeared scared from some horrific wound. I guess that'd look hokey and perhaps it's rather more difficult for a Jedi.
Not only would the Jedi have to levitate himself to a considerable height, he'd also have to exert some sort of pardon the pun force -- kinetic or whatever -- to propel himself and maneuver through the sky. Yet, for a sufficiently trained and powerful Jedi, this should not be impossible. Yoda was strong enough in the Force that by appyling neough power and will he could make his aging, small body move extremely fast or make exceedingly high leaps and bounds for his height, anyway.
And if at he could lift an X-Wing, why shouldn't he be able to levitate or even "fly" in some small way? But again, I guess flying Jedi would make them rather comic-booky, moreso than Unca George possibly had in mind for his warrior-monks. Registered: May 20, So yes, he really should be able to make himself do it. I don't think they'd do it Superman style with one arm out and such, but just lift themselves up and around.

Mateo , Sep 27, Registered: Jun 20, I think that to answer this question, you'd have to look at the way in which Jedi can cause objects to move. Taken from what we have seen, a Jedi can move any object around them, no matter the size dependant on their abilities, and their belief that they can do it.
But how does this work? Can they just use the "current" of the Force to pick it up and move it, or do they use the Force as an extension of their own body and "pick" it up and move it. From what we've been told of the nature of the force, I tend to think that the second option is what happens.
That means that in essence, the Force user doing the moving acts as a kind of fulcrum for the movement. So to do something like an extended leap, or slowing a fall, this would be how they make the movement. They'd be trying to pull the area that they are jumping to closer to them, but since it's generally immovable objects or they use a proportional amount of the Force so they don't rip something like a cat-walk apart , it acts in reverse and pulls them towards the object.
The reverse would apply in falling, as they are trying to push the ground away, and thus slowing themselves down. So to fly, since the Force user would be the fulcrum, they can't just pick themselves up, so they'd have to fly in a different manner.
