Based on initial set of reports the upcoming camera will have a 24mp sensor while others suggest it will have a high resolution sensor ranging from 26 to 30 MP. Discuss on our WP Forum. Comments Posts. I am in the market for this camera if it sports a new sensor, otherwise I am starting to get very frustrated with Canon.
Not saying I am happy about it but plenty of people were waiting for such a camera mostly for birding, wildlife and sports. APS-C cameras also have wider AF point coverage vs the clustered AF points in the middle of the frame on the full frame cameras, and the crop factor is beneficial to those who shoot sports, wildlife, aviation etc.
The only reason Canon sells more cameras is because Nikon refused to come out with FF for a very long time so now Canon will sell more cameras because they stick with APS-C, you think?
The truth is that Canon just can't produce high resolution sensor. Since they got away with it with the support of Canon loyalists, they are trying to pull the same thing with the 7DII.. On the other hand later on Canon gives really good discounts.
Or you can buy refurbished with full 1 year warranty. And Canon will give unofficial 1 year warranty if you have USA receipt.
Nikon mostly keeps original prices up at an authorized dealers till the end of the product life. Stop going on about 4K. When 4K is mainstream, all the toys that have brought it out now will be junk. When consumers don't even have 4K screens this is laughable. This is an enthusiast sports and wildlife photographers camera. Does it have digital zoom with video? Combined with the crop sensor and AF at f8 this would be interesting for nature videographers. It all looks pretty good to me, I'll be buying one at Christmas for sure.
Unless some terrible flaws are discovered by early adopters. If I remember correctly, Canon was going to abandon the 7D name in future. Specs are really good, I would like to read how the sensor on this one performs compared to 70D. If there is a noticeable improvement I wouldn't mind getting this one over the 70D. The video review at BH says that the sensor is new and not the same as 70D. I hope that this means the ISO performance is not the same as well I will be happy to be proven wrong but I seriously doubt this is anything other than a tweaked 70D sensor.
I like it, on paper excellent AF, and higher Iso and good pro body in an crop body - shame Nikon didn't do the D yet. I guess it's just that with a long-term purchase like this, you don't want to find you can't shoot in a future default format that's already in a number of competitors. Plus, 4K lets you extract 8MP stills from video, giving you 30fps continuous shooting. So it's an omission that will become increasingly glaring.
It only gives you 30fps at a to slow a shutter speed to stop any action which is the only place I could see this being useful. I'm confused. Are you saying that the shutter speed is fixed in video? My understanding is you can set the shutter to whatever you want. Granted, the resulting video will look weird strobe light like , but if the point is to take 8mp stills at 30 fps, this should work perfectly fine well, if it had 4k. What are you possibly going to extract from video that you can't get from 10fps stills?
For some applications that isn't long enough, or at least not as convenient as 10 minutes of video, because you don't always know in which seconds something interesting is going to happen.
Looks like my good ol' 7D is history. Definitely not zero. It's a useful feature soon to be essential in the Pro market the target group of this camera. No 4K is a huge drawback for this particular camera in this particular market at this time. Canon missed a huge opportunity to go back in the leading spot. Average people do not seen any need for ever increasing resolution in video when no one can view it.
From an amateur's point of view it may be a gimmick. In the Pro world things are different. No In a pro world you would buy a 1dc or a Red if 4k is important. It's only armatures that cry about 4k in a camera made for stills. Wedding photographers and semi-pro wildlife photographers cannot afford 1Dc and RED cameras, Pro is not only Hollywood and National Geographic you know After 3 years, it's probably due an upgrade - here's our wishlist for a Mark III.
Have you ever seen a shutter fail in real time? Now you can. These macro photos of clouds of paint billowing through clear water might look like high-quality CGI, but they're real photographs. And photographer Alberto Seveso told us how they were made. Nikon's newest D gains a lot from the D and loses a few things compared to its predecessor, the D - but Canon's got at least one model that looks pretty comparable.
